Training in the social therapeutic approach is available at the East Side Institute for Group and Short Term Psychotherapy.
The Institute offers clinical training weekends led by Christine LaCerva and other Institute faculty. Participants go through an intensive learning experience in which they explore the theoretical and methodological underpinnings of social therapy.
Social Therapy as Clinical Practice
- The Weekend Intensive: Learn this powerful approach to group therapy over three intensive weekends in New York. Each four-day training will focus on a specific aspect of social therapeutic method introduced experientially through diverse learning activities: social therapeutic role-plays, observations of therapy groups, reflection sessions with social therapists, group supervisions, and seminars linking theory and practice. More
- Professional Development Saturdays: Join Hugh Polk and Institute faculty for a full-day interactive practicum designed for therapists, coaches, counselors and group leaders interested in learning how social therapy and a group-creativity approach can enhance their practices. More
- Open House: Meet our faculty, clinical staff, graduates, clients and other practitioners from around the city in an informal conversational environment. Explore how a group-based approach to emotional development can advance your skills and revitalize your practice.
- Conversations for Practitioners: Christine LaCerva welcomes mental health professionals, psychotherapists and counselors to an open forum on current issues in psychology and mental health seen through a social therapeutic lens.
